Is our digital age creating "subjective cognitive memory impairment?"

If you are noticing you are feeling more frazzled and forgetful after a long day at the keyboard--you are!  You especially run the risk of memory loss to the point of seriousness.  Then you come home and go online to your social network and play/talk for hours. You spend hours on your blackberry. You find it hard to get to sleep and may even dream you are typing.  For real.  This is called " subjective cognitive impairment,"  and Dr. David Ballard says we are overloaded with digital information.  CPS Research gives it a dubious medical label "busy lifestyle syndrome."  And to make it worse CPS Research is thinking of making small doses of the alzheimers drug "memantine" to treat the memory loss.  Why not just turn of the computers for periods of the day, or give the social networks a rest?  The idea of treating our bodies with drugs piled on top of drugs is getting serious with 36% of Americans experiencing  chronic work stress (Am. Psychological Association).  An alternative to chronic drug-taking is to give yourself some "down time,"--listen to music and not at a loud decibel level; take a walk at lunch; take your pet for a walk after work, research shows this very effective; take a yoga or meditation class three times a week, and NOT in the workplace; exercise to get the flow of oxygen going;; massage also gets the oxygen moving.  But beware of drug companies developing drugs to help you stay online!
